Providing a Home for the Genuinely Needy
Whilst it is of course possible to make a donation with no strings attached, our 1-to-1 Sponsors are rather more than this. We encourage them to take on the role of long-distance surrogate family with regular written correspondence and sending photos. As an official NGO in Uganda we work very closely with the Social Services doing background checks and visitations to ensure the children we take into The Peace Centre are the most vulnerable double orphans, i.e. both of their parents have died.
Only the neediest orphansWe do a thorough check, including 'home' visits, to ensure that the children we take in are genuinely the neediest. On one recent visit, we discovered that the girl in question had gone out to work in order to be able to provide for her elderly grandmother who could no longer move around. This girl is six years of age, has no parents, no extended family and no chance of an education.
Why you should become a sponsorBecause you will be making a genuine difference to the life of a child who has been left to survive without parents, without love and without education. With no overseas staff costs, every last penny of your sponsorship goes directly towards improving the quality of life of your long-distance adopted child.

Overseas surrogate familyThe focus of this commitment is relational, not purely financial. The role is that of an overseas surrogate family, and we ask you to make monthly communication with your adopted child.

Some words from our sponsors
My family and I love what sponsoring Amos has done for us, and hopefully, for him. Writing letters and sharing pictures makes it feel like we have family in Uganda. Hearing news from Amos is always a delight and is what sets The Peace Centre apart as it shows us our money is having a direct impact. I also appreciate how sponsorship helps me to teach my children about our interconnectedness with others throughout the world.
